Obituary of Michael James Lacy

Michael James Lacy, 64, a recent resident of Vicenza, Italy, passed away of stage IV pancreatic cancer on Friday, October 7, 2022. Michael, also known to family and friends as Mick or Mickey, was born on December 8, 1957, the son of Constance LeClair Lacy and Peter John Lacy of Keeseville, New York. Mickey grew up in Keeseville and attended high school at St John's Academy in Plattsburgh where he played both football and baseball, graduating in 1975. Shortly after graduating, Mickey enlisted in the U.S. Army and began a 25-year career with the 509th and 82nd Airborne Divisions. He also attended Eastern Kentucky University where he met his wife, Monica Stockdale of Louisville, KY. They married in 1988. For the past two decades, Mickey had continued serving his country, working for the U.S. Department of Defense counter-terrorism in Germany, Afghanistan, and most recently Italy and Africa. Mickey was predeceased by his father and his sister-in-law, Penny (John) Lacy. He is survived by his wife; his four children: Michaela (Jason Rissover) Lacy, Morgan (Noah) Shannon, Myles (Abbey White) Lacy, and their youngest, Mallory A Lacy; and his two grandchildren: Gideon Ryder Shannon and Elliana Grace Shannon. Mickey is also survived by his mother and five siblings: Stephen (Mario Lemire) Lacy of Keeseville, Pamela Lacy of Mechanicville, NY, John Lacy of Keeseville, Jennifer (Terry) Pray of Queensbury, NY, and Timothy Lacy of West Chazy, NY. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church in Keeseville, NY. A reception will immediately follow at the Elks Club in Keeseville. Services will also be held on the same day 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home in Alexandria, VA. Mickey will be interred at the Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made in honor of Mickey to the Wounded Warriors Project at Wounded Warrior Project Mick Lacy. Local arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
