Obituary of Mark S. Millett
Please share a memory of Mark to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mark S. Millett, 63, of the Peasleeville Road, Schuyler Falls, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022 at the UVM Health Network – CVPH, Plattsburgh with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Plattsburgh on September 19, 1959, the son of Robert and Carol (Huntley) Millett. He grew up in Peasleeville and spent his entire life on the same road.
Mark’s most recent professional career was as a certified welding inspector for Jeffords Steel & Engineering and then for Duquette’s Steel & Structural Fabrication. However, his true passion though was for his family and friends. Mark built his “forever home” on the same road he was raised on, from the pouring of concrete for the basement right up to the roofing of our home. He did it all. He was a phenomenally talented & gifted craftsman and could do just about anything you could think of from carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, …
He was very involved in his children’s schooling years and never missed a parent teacher conference and seldom missed a sporting event. He was also very aware of the value, for many teachers who never got parents to touch base, so he made sure to always see everyone, such as gym and art teachers. His volunteer work included, but not limited to, Town of Peru youth sports. He was a Mites soccer coach for 10+ years and coached T-Ball & occasional softball during that timeframe.
Last, but certainly not least, Mark was an extremely loyal friend who provided assistance to whomever asked, without question. If he could help someone make, fix, resolve, … an issue, then he was there, without fail. He had a boundless amount of generosity.
Left to cherish the memory of Mark are his loving wife Susan A. (Walker) Millett, of 41 years, whom he married on July 4th, 1981, at St. Columba’s Church in Montreal, Quebec. His children are: Samantha Millett (Steven Gonyea), Jessica Millett (Red Millett), Alexandra Lemieux (Ryan Lemieux) and Matthew Millett (Kayla Backer). Grandchildren; Rielly Lemieux, Skyler Smart Gonyea, Annabell Lemieux, Robert Lemieux, Madly Gonyea, Loralei Gonyea-Millett, Gannon Millett & Anduin Millett.
In addition to his mother, he leaves behind brothers: Robert Millett (Keitha Conners) and Brian Millett (Mary Meilink).
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 6 to 8 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru.
At Mark’s request, burial will be private.
A special note of thanks and heartfelt appreciation go out to Jennifer Facteau-Rabideau RN NP-C, PLLC, whom Mark felt was the best of the best. Your care and attention to Mark’s medical needs were unparalleled. To Missy Pion, for your assistance and care to Mark this past year. You two had such a wonderful rapport and Mark absolutely loved your humor and outlook. To Erik Wilson, Peru Central Art Teacher Extra-Ordinaire. Thank you for working on an urn and just know that he so admired your dedication to your students. It was very evident in talking with our children. And, last but not least, to the staff, Jill Kanaly-Demers and Dr. Kabeli in the Plattsburgh CVPH ICU. You took such good care of Mark and helped him so much, right to the end, even though he could not express this himself.
