In 1979 Grace and her family opened up their home to me, an 18 year old exchange student from the Netherlands. Grace was a second mum for me, and she made me feel right at home. That year I spent with the Uhligs is filled with good memories and I think of Grace with great affection. I remember her strong character, hospitality, sense of humor and sometimes naughty twinkle in her eyes, love for animals, and the interest she showed in people and the community. My stay with Grace and John and their sons Jim, Jonathan, David and Tom have had a profound impact on decisions I made in later years.
I am very happy that in more recent times my wife Marlou and our children Joeri and Lilian have also been able to enjoy her love and hospitality. Marlou and I were fortunate to be able to visit Grace and John on numerous occasions and we joyfully remember the long chats we had over coffee, lunch or dinner. Highlights always were our visits to Camp; that little paradise on the shores of Lake Champlain.
We are very sorry that she has passed away, and we wish John and the whole family lots of strength in the coming time.
