
Obituary of Armand Joseph Lafountain

Armand J. Lafountain, 85, of Lamberton Road, Mooers Forks, New York died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, October 4, 2022.
He was born in Mooers Forks on March 9th, 1937, the son of Noah and Louise Lafountain. He grew up in Mooers Forks and spent his whole life there.
For 50 years, Armand ran the Lafountain Bros dairy farm, along with his brother Francis. The family farm was Armand’s passion. After they sold the farm, he started driving school bus for NCCS. Also, during this time he sold sawdust to local farmers which kept him in touch with his beloved farming community. In the summer, he also mowed the town roads for the Town of Mooers.
Armand was always involved with his community, being a member of the Knights of Columbus and a devout Catholic church member. Armand loved listening to RFD-TV on Saturday nights, following the Gibson Brothers, spending time with his large family, taking trips to Florida, and daily rides on his buggy around the Pines.
Left to cherish the memories of Armand, are his children, Lorie (Jeff) Parker, Lisa (Gregg) Roberts, Lynn (Jim) Armstrong, Louise (Tracey) Lamere, Michele (Chris) Engle, Todd (Jenn) Lafountain, Scott (Jamie) Lafountain, Nichole (Allen) Racine, Brian (Shelly) Lafountain, and cherished friend Chuck Porter. In addition, he had 23 loving grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Armand leaves behind 2 brothers and 8 sisters and 3 sisters-in-law, Clarence Lafountain (friend Marie), Francis (Connie) Lafountain, Yvonne (Roger) LaValley, Eileen Bosley, Jeanette (Wayne) LaBarge, Dorothy (Real) Duteau, Joan (Tom) Bosley, Barbara (Alex) Bechard, Susan (John) Anctil, Pat (Bob) Dessureault, and sisters-in-law Gloria Lafountain, Theresa Rabideau, and Shirley Bell.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Marie (Rabideau), brother Albert Lafountain, sisters-in-law Janice Lafountain, Audrey Rabideau, Joyce Rabideau and brothers-in-law David Bosley, Raymond Rabideau, Robert Rabideau, Marcel Rabideau, and lifelong friends Francis and Priscilla Menard, and Victor & Marie Picotte.
After his wife Marie passed in 2011, Armand had a lot of help from family and friends over the years. The family would like to send special thanks to Lynne, Mary, Rita, Missy, Tinna, Tia, and Molly Merkel P.A. for their care and compassion.
Calling hours will be held Friday, October 7, 2022, from 4 to 7 pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Noon, at St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country 358 Tom Miller Road, Plattsburgh, N.Y., 12901, and to St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 3062 State Route 11 Mooers Forks, NY 12959.
