Clifford Ellsworth Doty, Jr., 90, of the Peasleeville Road, Peru, died Saturday, October 1, 2022 at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital, with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Plattsburgh, August 4, 1932, the son of Clifford, Sr. and Ella (Clukey) Doty. He grew up in Peru. In the early years, he worked at Burrell Orchards in Peru for a time.
Cliff was most known as a long-time caretaker of Peru Central School buildings. Always devoted to his job and making the environment as pristine for the faculty and students as he could. Cliff was a quiet, kind and gentle man. He was always willing to help anyone in need.
Cliff enjoyed outdoor activities, especially cutting wood, and walking his dogs. He was an avid NY Yankee fan and enjoyed a cold beer with family and friends.
Left to cherish the memories of Cliff are, his children, Neal Doty, Ilane Dubuque, Tim (Robin) Doty, and Molly (Scott) Ano; two grandchildren, Amber Doty (Charlie Harr) and Jeffery Doty; three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Liam, and Kayleigh; siblings, Gloria Wells, June Bruno, Esther Parrish, Walter Doty, Connie (Robert) Laundry; and Doris (Howard) Senecal; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Jacqueline (Besaw) Doty; son-in-law, Michael Dubuque; brother, Raymond Doty; siblings-in-law, Jack Wells, Vernon Bruno, Roger Parrish, and Theresa Doty.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 11 to 1 pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A graveside service will follow in the Peasleeville Cemetery.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Peru Fire Dept.
