Obituary of Ethel Joyce Close

Ethel Joyce Close, 91, of Rosbo Lane, Morrisonville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country. She was born in Gloversville, NY on May 27, 1931, the daughter of Okley and Clara (Smith) VanNort. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Pamela Homolya (Rich) and Holley Christiansen (Mark); her sons, Sterling W.Close (Beth) and Bruce Close; her grandchildren, Colleen Fleming, Thomas Homolya, Leigh Delgado (Justin), Karyn Mills (Steve), Amanda VanHatten (John), Christopher Close (Michelle) and Heather Brockway (Adam); along with 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving life partner, Albert Killian, who made her later years to be some of the happiest in her life. Honoring Ethel’s wishes there will be no public calling hours or services. A celebration of life will take place at a future time. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ethel J. Close may be made to the Cancer Center at University of Vermont Medical Center, Hospice of the North Country or your local SPCA.
