Obituary of Hilda Hathaway

Hilda Hathaway, 92, of Ellsberry Lane, Willsboro, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 12, 2022 at her home under the loving care of her family and High Peaks Hospice. She was born in Swanton, VT, on September 27, 1929 the daughter of Wyman and Nina (Hathaway) Benway. Hilda married the love of her life, Vaughn, on September 8, 1948. Together they incorporated Northeastern States Lumber in 1989. They enjoyed traveling to different areas buying and selling lumber and meeting new people. Hilda loved spending time in her gardens, picking vegetables for canning or fresh flowers for bouquets. She enjoyed reading the latest Nicholas Sparks book, and sewing and cooking large holiday dinners. Hilda’s homemade rolls were a family favorite; you could never eat just one. Most importantly, she cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sandra Jacques (Stephen) of Gloversville, NY, Dale (Betsy) of Mayfield, NY, Colleen Nolette (Ben Gentile) of Willsboro, and Wanda Gowdy (Scott) of Lewis, NY; grandchildren, Jamey (Amy) Jacques, Brent Jacques, Angela Rhodes, Jennifer (Ron) Akey, Jeremy Hathaway, Jeanette Armstrong, Alvin (Brandy) Nolette Jr, Nicole Cassavaugh, Tierra (Brandon) Jaquish, Briana Reynolds, Mike Gowdy, and Cody Gowdy; great grandchildren, Kendall, Andrew, Austin, Jaxson, Mitchell, Abigail, Emma, Isabella, Logan, Darrian, Lilly, Brady, Lexi, Lacey, Laney, Desiree, Everett, and Brody; siblings, Lional (Kibbie) Benway, Hazel Te Riele, Paul Benway, Norris Benway, Harriet Rasco, Robert Benway, and Allen Benway; and Hilda’s five girlfriends who will forever be family, Stacey, Melissa, Jen, Angel, and Joan. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband, Lloyd “Vaughn” Hathaway; and a sister, Helen Flynn. A special thanks to High Peaks Hospice for their loving care. Honoring her wishes there will be no public calling hours. A Graveside Service will be held at the family’s convenience. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Hilda Hathaway may be made to High Peaks Hospice or a charity of your choice.
