Obituary of Kevin Patrick Downs

Kevin Patrick “Spyder” Downs, 62, of Main Street, Keeseville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country following a lengthy fight with Multiple Myeloma Cancer. He was the proud husband of Jill Downs of Kanata, Ontario and was born to Janet and Jerome Downs of Peru, NY. Besides his wife Jill, Kevin is survived by his step-son, Austin; uncle, Mike of Westport; aunt, Ruth of Virginia; cousins, Jennifer, Kate, and Matt; in-laws, Pat and Wayne Winchester of New Brunswick; and a sister, Karen. His mother and father, Janet and Jerome; aunt, Jeanne (Michael), uncle, Tom (Ruth), both sets of grandparents, Agnes and Edgar Downs and Madeline and Ernest LaPine all predeceased Kevin. Kevin loved autumn, the outdoors, his family, Keene Valley, traveling with his family, sports, Fish Creek, and his extended family, friends, and members of his beloved Iceman softball team. He enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was a 1978 graduate from Peru High School and a 1982 graduate of the NYS Ranger School at Wanakena, NY. After numerous jobs, Kevin worked for the AuSable Club, was a Correction Officer at Sing Sing (Ossining Correctional), then finally as a construction Engineer for 33 years with NYS Department of Transportation out of Watertown, then Albany, NY. Kevin was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks Lodge. A Funeral Service will follow at 7 PM in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William G. Reamer, officiating. Burial in Norton Cemetery, Keene, will be private.
