Obituary of David E. Timmons

David E. "Skip" Timmons, 62, of Oak Street, Plattsburgh, died Thursday, July 7, 2022 at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh. He was born in Plattsburgh, September 27, 1959, the son of Robert and Loretta (McGee) Timmons. He grew up in Peru and graduated from Peru Central School. He graduated from Clinton Community College and later graduated from Paul Smith's College with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. David worked for NYS Parks and Recreation while studying at Clinton Community; he later worked for one season at Pale Face Lodge. Following graduation from Paul Smith's he began working at The Royal Savage for Don Benjamin. His work for Don spanned 10 years prior to opening his own restaurant, The Leaning Pine in Peru. He owned and operated The Leaning Pine Restaurant for several years prior to beginning a career at Clinton Correctional as a Correctional Food Administer prior to retiring. He worked at Clinton for many years. He was a former member of the Peru Fire Dept. Skip enjoyed camping, canoeing, boating, hunting, and skiing, however his true love was caring for customers in the service industry. Fundamentally, David was a people person. He had a personality as large as life and had a way of making people feel important and special. Whether senior citizens playing bridge at the Royal Savage, teenagers at The Leaning Pine, or any age in between, David could charm, relate to, and communicate with anyone. Left to cherish the memory of David are, his wife of 20 years, Andie Rein-Timmons; daughter, Molly Timmons and her fiance, Josh Barnaby; step-son, Adam Rein; his mother, Loretta Timmons; siblings, Greg (Debbie) Timmons, Julie Timmons, Tim Timmons, and Robert "Robbie" (Michelle) Timmons; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Robert "Bob" Timmons, August 4, 1995. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2022 from 3 to 5 pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Augustine's Cemetery in Peru. Donations in his memory may be made to the Peru Fire Dept.
