Frances R. “Fran” Defayette, 74, of Peru, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 17, 2022 at the UVM Health Network – CVPH, Plattsburgh with her loving family by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh on July 12, 1947, the daughter of Robert and Hilda (Kirk) Relation. Fran graduated from Beekmantown Central School. Following her graduation, she was a selfless and loving wife and mother, and a proud homemaker for their 5 children. Later in life, Fran was a valued school bus driver for the Chazy Central Rural School District for many years. Fran was an active member of the St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy and the Altar Rosary Society. Fran dabbled with cake making, painting ceramics, and crocheting. She loved to travel, especially to the Maine coast. She also enjoyed her “joy rides” around the lake and card games with her closest friends and family. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 56 years, Deacon Gerald R. Defayette; children, Kathy Defayette Rudolph (Glen), David Defayette, Michael Defayette (Crystal), and Jeffery Defayette (Eli); her adorning grandchildren, Joshua, Shannon, Jessa, Alex, Megan, Deanna, Cassondra, Sydney, Alivia, and Abraham; sisters, Beverly Gonyo (Larry) and Cindy Dominy (William); brother-in-law, Lyman Defayette; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her child, Anndrew Defayette and sister-in-law, Mary Defayette. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 4 to 6 PM at Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 11 AM at St. Alexander’s Church, Church Street, Morrisonville with Rev. Scott Seymour presiding and Rev. Alan Shnob (ret.) concelebrating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Chazy. Donations in memory of Frances R. Defayette may be made to St. Alexander’s and St. Joseph’s Soup Kitchen; Friars of Atonement, Graymoor, NY; St. Ann’s Shrine, Isle La Motte, VT. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
