Obituary of Laura Beatrice Connor

Plattsburgh Laura Beatrice Connor (Perras) passed from this life into eternal salvation on Saturday May 21st, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family and devoted husband. She had returned home under the care of Hospice of the North Country after over a decade battling Leukemia. Laura was born in Plattsburgh on January 5th, 1987, to Claude and Wanda (Ackerman) Perras of Mooers Forks, NY. She attended Northeastern Clinton Central School where she graduated as the cumulative Valedictorian in 2005. She then went on to pursue an individualized degree at SUNY Plattsburgh in Literature and Canadian Studies where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2009. This is where she met “The one whom her soul loved,” and years later, on June 9, 2019, she married Seth Connor of Plattsburgh. Laura had many jobs, working for Rue 21, The Strand Center for the Arts, Studley Printing, working for Dr. Zandi at the Mood and Memory Clinic, Stever's Candies in Rochester, NY and most recently Saranac Central School. However, Laura’s true passion was writing. She was a gifted and talented writer and often wrote for Northern Home Garden & Leisure and Lake Champlain Weekly. She was also an assistant editor for the Saranac Review; while also working on multiple novels with the dream of being published. Laura’s other passion was being a mom to her fur-babies. She is survived by her husband and soul mate, Seth Connor of Plattsburgh; parents, Claude and Wanda (Ackerman) Perras of Mooers Forks, NY; brother and best friend, Mathew Perras of Mooers Forks, NY; maternal grandmother, Ramona Ackerman of West Chazy, NY; paternal grandfather, Romain Perras of Mooers Forks, NY; God children, Anne, Elizabeth and Charles Frizzell of Montreal, Quebec; aunt, Sharon (Ackerman) Richards of Rouses Point, NY; aunt, Cynthia (Ackerman) Miner of West Chazy, NY; aunt, Jennifer Ackerman (Larry Stannard) of West Chazy, NY; uncle, Kenneth (Karen) Ackerman of Staatsburg, NY; uncle, Donald (Beverly) Perras of Mooers, NY; aunt, Becky (Michael) Rabideau of Mooers, NY; aunt, Julie Decoste of Mooers Forks, NY; uncle, Emile (Gina) Perras of Cocoa, FL; mother and father-in-law, William and Victoria Connor of Alexandria Bay, NY; sister-in-law, Kathryn (Millicent Hopper) Connor of Massena, NY; sister-in-law, Erin Connor of Alexandria Bay, NY; nieces and nephews via her marriage; and several cousins. She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Carroll Ackerman and paternal grandmother, Jennette Perras. She was also pre-deceased by Wallace and Nissa. But will be unfathomably missed by her dogs Luna Petunia and Berkely Fergus, and her cat Alderaan Birkir. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, May 27, 2022 from 1 to 3 and 4 to 6 PM at Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. A Memorial Service will be held in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel at 6 PM with Pastor Trevor Finley, officiating. Laura left this life too soon, with a spirit full of love, grace, and gratitude.
