Linwood Worrell, Jr.

Obituary of Linwood F. "Woody" Worrell, Jr.

Linwood F. "Woody" Worrell, Jr. 68, of Pine Tree Drive, Keeseville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at UVM Health Network- CVPH, Plattsburgh with his loving family by his side. He was born in Orlando, FL on December 1, 1953, the son of Linwood, Sr. and Essie May (Coley) Worrell. After graduating from Ahoskie High School in North Carolina, where he was raised, he had a calling to join the military and chose the U.S. Navy. Woody proudly served his country with the United States Navy for 24 years becoming a Vietnam Veteran before being honorably discharged as Petty Officer 1st Class in 1995. During his enlistment while stationed in Maryland he met his wife to be, Sandi. They married May 7th, 1989 and have spent the last 33 years by each other's side building the beautiful family they have today. After retiring from the Navy he took great pride in working hard and being a lifelong provider for his family. He was also a member of the Keeseville American Legion Post 1505. Woody was a loving and devoted Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, and Papa. He had a passion for many things from writing to trains to woodworking. A true selfless artist at heart, Woody found great happiness in sharing his creations with loved ones. Of his many talents, he was a great storyteller. He enjoyed sharing his stories and anecdotes which will undoubtably live on with his memory. Undeniably though, his greatest passion of all was his family. Not surprising to those that knew him, he could easily be found playing in the yard with his children or grandchildren or watching old westerns on a rainy day. A real patriarch, he fulfilled his greatest aspirations by simply being dad or papa and sometimes putting the "char" in "charcoal grill" but mostly by spending time with those he loved. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sandra "Sandi" (Denniston) Worrell, His 8 children, Robert Worrell of Keeseville, Amanda Worrell and Partner Jason Blaise of Plattsburgh, Kristina Worrell and Partner Greg Bracey of Morrisonville, William (Erin) Worrell of Champlain, Wayne Worrell of Keeseville, Shannon Worrell of Keeseville, Jennifer Worrell of Florida and Christopher Worrell of Plattsburgh. His 4 loving grandchildren, Jason Worrell, Adrianna (Bird) Worrell, and Brady and Anne-Marie Bracey. Woody is also survived by his Mother-in-Law Sharon Denniston of Baldwinsville, His sister Lola Smith of Winston Salem, North Carolina, brother James Worrell of Tucson, Arizona. Brother-in-laws Daniel (Colleen) Denniston of Baldwinsville and Roger (Susan) Denniston of Richmond Virginia. Cousins Billy (Rhonda) Worrell and Joanna Worrell and many nieces and nephews. In addition to Woodys parents he was predeceased by his Father-in-law William Denniston, Brother-in-law William Smith and Cousin Sara Giroux.
