Dennis A. “Sonny” Gadway, 82, of Cannon Corners Road, Mooers Forks passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at his home. He was born in Plattsburgh on February 29, 1940, the son of Leo and Ruby (Boulerice) Gadway. Sonny was a farmer, Maple Syrup producer, and owned and operated Gadway Brothers Excavating business all with his best friend and loving brother Leonard Gadway. Left to cherish his memory is his longtime love and wife of 63 years, Shirley (Venne) Gadway; his children, Robyn Fortsch, and Derrick and Edie Gadway; his grandchildren will miss him dearly, Andrea Cameira, Michael Gadway, Heather Coulombe, Mandy Barnaby, and Amy Rich; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Kathryn, and Lindsey Barnaby, and Montana and Demetris Rich; brothers, Gerald (Marilyn) Gadway and Leonard (Florence) Gadway; sisters, Doris LaValley and Norma Miller; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Francis and Leo Gadway, Jr.; step mother, Gertrude Gadway; sister-in-law, Margaret Gadway; son-in-law, Phil Fortsch II; brothers-in-law, Ronald LaValley, Derrick Venne, Henry “Ronnie” Minckler, Gary Donivan, and Hugh Miller. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, April 28, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church, Mooers Forks. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dennis A. Gadway may be made to the H.K. Freedman Renal Center, American Heart Association, or the Mooers Fire Department. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers, 236-4747.
