Edward Wayne "Ed" Bennett, 53, of Route 22B, Plattsburgh, died Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh, with his family by his side. His passing followed a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Altus, Oklahoma, April 2, 1968, the son of Wayne E. and Joan M. (Denison) Bennett. Ed graduated from Peru Central School in 1987. He served in the United States Army from 1988 until his honorable discharge in 1990. Ed led a varied and lively life. Following his discharge from the military, he traveled for several years before settling in Albany, NY, and raising a family. He had a very generous heart for everyone in his life and went out of his way to support anyone in need. He loved animals, especially pit-bulls. He had a great sense of humor, he always made everyone laugh. In recent years, he moved back to the area to be closer to family. Ed is survived by his mother, Joan Bennett; his children, Tevin (Isaiah), Fantasia (Fanny), Brittany and Topaz; former partners, Annika Kitonyi and Meliyka Howell; sisters, Martha Westerdahl and Mary Rock; his brother, Steven (Michelle) Bennett; step-siblings, Vicki (David) Clum and Barry (Lana) Bruno; sister-in-law, Nancy Bennett; acquired siblings, Darryl (Diane) Martin, Dawn Smith and Maria Somody; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Wayne Bennett; his loving step-father, John Bruno; two brothers-in-law, Eric Westerdahl, and Jerry Rock; and acquired brother, Donnie Smith. At Ed's request there will be no public services. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Alexander's Cemetery in Morrisonville. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the preferable charity of one's choice. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
