In Loving Memory of Margaret Sarah (Tripp) Wood Margaret Sarah (Tripp) Wood, age 87, passed away February 27, 2022 at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh. She was born in Morrisonville on February 21, 1935, the daughter of John and Ethel (LaRock) Tripp. Margaret lived on State Route 22 in the town of Plattsburgh for over 60 years, before moving to Victory Place, then the Samuel F. Vilas Home for a brief time. Margaret graduated from Peru High School in 1953 and Loretta School of Business in 1954. She was employed at Loan Service and later at the Speech and Hearing Center at Plattsburgh State University. She loved her job as a secretary at the Speech and Hearing Center, where her kind and friendly personality touched the lives of many faculty members, students, and speech therapy recipients. Margaret worked there for 23 years, before retiring in 1994. Margaret was an avid reader. She also enjoyed fishing, jigsaw puzzles, and watching the birds visit her birdfeeders. She was known for her “green thumb” and took pride in her beautiful gardens and house plants. Margaret’s greatest joy of all was her family, especially her two grandchildren. Left to cherish the memory of Margaret are her daughter, Denise Morgan and her husband Tom; her granddaughter, Ashley Margaret Anctil and her husband Chris; her grandson, Dean Akey and his wife Cassandra, and three great grandchildren: Landon, TJ, and Paityn. Margaret is also survived by two brothers: Raymond and John (Joe) Tripp, and a sister, Carol Sorrell, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Kenneth Wood Sr. and their son, Kenneth Wood Jr., her siblings: Herbert Tripp and Marion Badger, as well as her sister and dear friend, Shirley Conners. Honoring the wishes of Margaret’s family, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. A Christian burial will take place at St. Alexander's Cemetery, in Morrisonville in the spring. Margaret’s family would like to take this opportunity to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff and residents of Victory Place for making Margaret’s final months so very special; Also, a special thank you to Margaret’s neighbors, Charlie and Riley, for all of their help and kindness, and to Linda, the “Meals on Wheels Angel,” for brightening Margaret’s days. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
