Obituary of Norman L. Coolidge
Norman L. Coolidge, Sr., 60, of Straight Road, Jay, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the UVM Health Network – CVPH, Plattsburgh. In the loving company of his wife, Helen; son, Norman, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Kayla; daughter, Teesha Rose; boyfriend, Zach; brother, Frank; sister-in-law, Kim; sister, Rose; and brother-in-law, Rick Winchell.
He was born in Keene Valley on November 17, 1961, the son of Henry and Evelyn (Terry) Coolidge, Jr.
Norman graduated from AuSable Valley Central School in 1980.
He later married his wife of 40 years, Helen (Lawrence) Coolidge in 1982, and fathered two beautiful children.
He will always be remembered as a hard-working, compassionate soul who often thought of others more than he thought of himself. He was a mentor; someone that would take you in if you needed a place to go because he knew that a simple act of kindness could change a person’s life. Norman was a talented carpenter who owned a small business; building and care-taking houses in the local area and across the North Country. He had a fascination with the simpler things in life and enjoyed admiring nature, hunting, fishing, and playing his guitar. He loved singing along to Don Williams and knew every word by heart. Those who knew him best would say that was who he was as a person; a gentle giant.
May his life be honored by the memories we share and the invaluable lessons he has taught us.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Helen (Lawrence) Coolidge; children, Norman L. Coolidge, Jr. and Teesha Rose Coolidge; his mother, Evelyn; and siblings, Rose, Frank, Jimmy, and Henry, III.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Henry and Rose Coolidge; father, Henry Coolidge, Jr.; uncle, Harold Coolidge; uncle, Fred Coolidge; uncle, George Coolidge; aunt, Violet (Coolidge) Terry; and cousin, Daniel Coolidge.
Honoring his wishes there will be no public calling hours. A Celebration of life will take place sometime in June.
