Obituary of Shirley Judith Tennant

Shirley Judith Tennant, 78, of the Bradford Road, Plattsburgh, died Friday, January 7, 2022 at her home, under the loving care of her family, special caregivers, and Hospice of the North Country. She was born in Massena, November 19, 1943, the daughter of Earl Clarence and Rita (Sorrell) Vann. Shirley grew up on the Bradford Road in Plattsburgh and graduated from Beekmantown High School. She later graduated from nursing school in Watertown. Shirley worked as a nurse for many years at CVPH in Plattsburgh, and retired from a private practice in 2009, following several years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, her cats, doll collecting with her mom, NASCAR, and visiting Airborne for races every weekend. Left to cherish the memory of Shirley are, her brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Mary Vann of Plattsburgh; nephews, Timothy (Keiko), Thomas (Jennifer), and Tyler (Darla); many country cousins; her feline companion, Murphy. She was predeceased by her parents. There will be no public calling hours or services. Burial will be in the spring in St. Alexander's Cemetery in Morrisonville. Donations in her memory may be made to Parkinson's Disease or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
