Obituary of Darlene A. Coryer

Darlene Coryer, 62, of Saratoga Springs, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at Saratoga Hospital with her family by her side. Darlene was born in Glens Falls, New York on February 8, 1959, the loving daughter of Walter and Marlene (Jacklitsch) Thomas. Darlene deeply loved her husband Randy and was a devoted mother to her son Randy and daughter Shannon. The love of them was only exceeded by her love for her three grandchildren, Aaliyah, Addison, and Jaxson. Darlene's life was all about commitment, devotion and love of family. So much so, she devoted the last twenty-one months of her life caring for her terminally ill mother Marlene who predeceased her by only eight days. She also loved to shop the deal, gamble (code word "Walmart"), vacation in Florida, and spend time with all her friends from Maple Avenue School. There was not a person who met Darlene who didn't walk away more enriched by their interaction with her. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Randy Coryer of Saratoga Springs, New York, her two children, Randy Coryer of Saratoga Springs, New York, and Shannon (Jon) West of Fort Edward, New York, and three grandchildren, Aaliyah West, Addison Coryer, and Jaxson West. She is also survived by her brother, Michael (Tamara) Thomas of Peru, New York, Donna (Bill) Downs of Peru, New York, Diana Thomas of Altona, New York, and several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Walter Thomas and mother, Marlene Thomas. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, from Noon to 2 pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, New York. A service of passage will be held at the funeral home immediately following calling hours with burial services to follow at St. Augustine's Cemetery. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Saratoga Hospital for their emergent and comfort care and support. A compassionate exemption permitted us to be with Darlene as she transitioned to eternity. This compassionate act meant so much to the family who experienced two deaths in eight days.
