Obituary of Erma J. Brousseau

Erma J. Brousseau, 94, of Saratoga Springs, formerly of Saranac, NY passed away on December 13, 2021. She was born on September 10, 1927 to Stanley J. and Loretta M. (Besaw) Ritchie. On October 21, 1948 she married Edgar P. Brousseau, who preceded her in death on June 10, 2001. They were married for 52 years. She graduated from Peru High School in 1945. During World War II she was an airplane spotter and sold War Bonds. She was very active at St. Joseph's Parish in Dannemora, NY serving as a past Parish Council President. She was also instrumental in writing St. Joseph's church history. She served as a Eucharistic Minister bringing Communion to shut-ins. Mrs. Brousseau was also a member of St. Joseph's "prayer line" for many years. She enjoyed and excelled at doing crafts of all types. After the death of her husband, she began scrapbooking and made several beautiful albums. She was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth (Ritchie) Light on July 5, 1949 and a son Brian T. Brousseau on July 2, 1994. She is survived by three daughters and a daughter-in-law. Karen Jones and her husband Warren of Ballston Spa, L. Lynn Pitts and her husband Jeff of Clifton Park, Judi Vratarich and her husband John of State College, PA and Laura Brousseau of Fort Ann. Her grandchildren are: Allison (Mike) Novotarsky, Peter (Shannon) Jones, Hillary and Evan Jones; Jonathan (Shannon) Pitts, Jeremy (Brenda) Pitts and Jesse (Melissa) Pitts; Matthew (Ashley) Vratarich, Joseph (Maggie) and Emily Vratarich and Joel and Sean Brousseau. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren: Ben Novotarsky; Katelyn, Natalie and Samantha Jones; Gregory and Addison Pitts; Natalie-Joy, Francis, Brian and Connor Pitts and Samuel Vratarich. The family would like to extend their thanks to Wesley Healthcare Center for their loving care of Erma for the past several years. A Mass Of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, December 17, 2021 at Noon at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. Erma's family will greet people at the Church between 11 AM and Noon. Burial will be held in the spring in the parish cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph's Church, 179 Smith St., Box 418, Dannemora, NY 12929.
