Obituary of Lorraine Ann Dow

Lorraine Ann Dow, 79, went home to God on November 11, 2021 in the apartment that she loved and called home. She was a loving mother, a devoted grandmother, a wife of 58 years, and a dear friend to many who enjoyed her company and her smile. She was born in Bangor, March 7, 1942, the daughter of Alfred and Gladys (Boyea) Pickering. Lorraine was a devoted mom and spent much of her life caring for her children and her family. She also enjoyed work outside her home as an associate at the Shield's slipper factory in Bombay, cleaning at a local motel in Malone, cooking for the Ursuline nuns in Malone, and working as an associate in Plattsburgh at Walmart. Lorraine was born to shop, loved to cook, and loved to spend time visiting. She was carefully planning the menu for this years' Thanksgiving feast. She liked to enjoy time with her friends and family. In fact, it was a rare Wednesday when she wasn't found at Mainely Lobster with her friends Mary, Betty and Linda. Lorraine deeply loved her family, friends, and her dogs. She brought comfort, joy and happiness to the world and her life will be treasured. She is survived by her husband, Eugene Dow; daughter, Laurie (Monte); two sons, Corey (Valerie) and Scott Dow; her beloved grandchildren, Benjamin Estes, Heidi Howard, and Heather Carver; sister-in-law, Betty Pickering; Eugene's siblings, Jane Patnode, and Lyndon (Mary) Dow; and countless other friends and family whom she loved and who loved her in return. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Alfred Jr., Thelma, Joyce, William, Pearl, and Wesley. A prayer service will be held Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 5 pm in the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, with Rev. Scott Seymour, officiating. Donations can be made to St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville or to an animal shelter of your choice. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Jodi Hamel for her exceptional medical care and unending compassion. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
