Obituary of Carlton Wood

Carlton H. “Carl” Wood, 74, of the Hugh Herron Road, Saranac, died Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at the West Marion Community Hospital in Ocala, Florida. He was born in Plattsburgh, May 21, 1947, the son of Harrison, Sr. and Marion (Giguere) Wood. He grew up in Cadyville and graduated from Saranac Central High School in 1966. He later completed a 4 year apprenticeship and was a certified Journeyman Electrician. He was a member of the IBEW Local 910. He retired in 2009, following 42 years of dedicated service. Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and camping. Because of his love of the Adirondacks he became a NYS Licensed Guide. Left to cherish the memory of Carl are, his loving wife of 51 years, Bonnie S. (Smith) Wood, whom he married September 13, 1969; brothers, Harrison Wood, Jr., and Terry Wood, both of Plattsburgh; one niece, Lorraine Hopp and her husband Lance of Clifton Park; and his loving puppy, Dixie. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Richard “Dick” Wood; and sister-in-law, Ginette (Rivoallan) Wood. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 1 to 2 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will follow at 2 PM in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Willaim G. Reamer, officiating. Burial will be private in the Cadyville Protestant Cemetery.
