Obituary of Heather Leigh Kiroy
Please share a memory of Heather to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Heather Leigh “Havee Leigh” (Hamel) Kiroy, 46, of Route 22B, Morrisonville, died July 18, 2021 at her parents’ home in Morrisonville, under the care Hospice of the North Country, surrounded by her loving family.
Heather was born in Plattsburgh, January 13, 1975, the daughter of Sherman and Donna (DiStefano) Hamel. Heather grew up in Morrisonville and graduated from Saranac High School in 1993 and was awarded her LPN License in 2004 from CV-TEC.
Heather married her high school sweetheart, Mark Kiroy, July 30, 1994, and would have celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary.
During her career Heather worked at Meadowbrook Healthcare and BHSN prior to opening her own day care in her home in Morrisonville where she was lovingly referred to as “Miss Heather”. She touched the lives of many families, both as a nurse and day care provider.
Beyond providing care to others as a nurse and daycare provider, Heather’s greatest joy came from being a mother. Heather was happiest on the sidelines of one of her boys’ many sporting events, or on one of their many family vacations, most often a cruise. Her boys and her family were her world, and the day she learned she was going to be a grandmother, Mia, she was elated.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Mark Kiroy; her five children; Brandon (Kirstie Miller), Connor (Sarah Tisdale), Alex Christman, Garrett, Mason Kiroy and her grandson Greyson Kiroy. Also surviving are her loving parents, Sherman and Donna Hamel; sister, Kristen Rougeau (Glenn Whitney); and brother Kevin (Ryan) Hamel, who Heather fondly referred to as “ Ry-Guy”, special niece Taylor Hamel (Alan Devins); mother and father-in-law, William and Vivian Kiroy, brothers-in-laws; Colby (Nicole), Geoffrey (Brittany Conant), Luke(Kyrsten) and Eryn as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Heather is pre-deceased by her maternal grandparents, Richard and Antoinetta DiStefano, paternal grandparents, Robert and Beatrice Hamel, and great grandmother, Madeline “Nanny” DiStefano, whom she adored.
Heather, our Mama Sita, was not only a mother to her own boys, but she was also a pseudo mom to so many others as she invariably opened her home to their friends and teammates whom she referred to as her boys.
A special thanks to Dr. Duus and the FCC team, Heather always said that Dr. Duus was her biggest supporter. We also want to thank Hospice of the North Country for the compassionate care they provided to Heather and our Family.
Heather Leigh, you will NEVER be forgotten.
At Heather’s request there will be no public calling hours or services.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country or the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center.
Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
