Obituary of Lionel J. Barcomb

Lionel J. Barcomb, 85, of Bush Road, Mooers Forks, died Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at the Clinton County Nursing Home, Plattsburgh. He was born in Mooers Forks, July 14, 1935, the son of Arthur and Mary Jane (Trudeau) Barcomb. Lionel ran and owned the family dairy farm on Bush road for 56 years. He was also a custodial worker at Northeastern Clinton CSD for 11 years. Lionel enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 63 years, Shirley (Decosse) Barcomb; children, Elaine (Thomas) Laundrie, Steve (Marcia) Barcomb, Lynn (John) Walker, and Lorie (Chad) Sample; grandchildren, Brad Barcomb and companion, Ashley Guay, Rachelle (Cory) Nolette, Andrew Walker, Kara Walker and fiance, Sanjay Reddy, Alyssa Walker, Elijah Sample and Avah Sample; great-grandchildren, Isis Barcomb, Xoey Barcomb, Liam Nolette, and Carter Nolette; his brothers, Reginald (Joanne) Barcomb of Batavia, and Jerry (Noreen) Barcomb of Chazy; his sisters, Rhea (David) Lewis of North Adams, Mass., Rita (Angelo) Giuliano of Maryland, and Marie Edna Hanson of California; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother-in-law, Craig Hanson. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, July 9, 2021 from 3 to 7 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Mooers Forks, with the Rev. Adrian Gallagher, celebrating. Entombment will follow in the Whispering Maples Memorial Garden Mousoleum, Elleburg Depot. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lionel may be made to the Champlain-Mooers EMS. A special thank you to the Clinton County Nursing Home staff and their activities department for arranging so many zoom meetings for Lionel’s family.
