Obituary of Barbara Alice Baughn

Barbara Alice (Simpson) Austin Baughn, 87, of the Fred Thew Road, Peru, peacefully went home on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country.
She was born in Ravena, NY on July 8, 1933 the daughter of Wesley and Bernice (Stalker) Simpson.
Barbara grew up in Whallonsburg but also lived many years in Dannemora and Harkness. Barbara was a Stanley Home Products Dealer and was active in many area churches as well as Fire Departments including Rescue Hose #5.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Bernard Austin, Jr. and his wife, Sharon; daughter, Betty Sue and her fiance’, Rob Leverett; sisters, Susan “Bunny” Lloyd and Carol Gustus; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Bernard Austin, Sr. and second husband, Robert Baughn.
A Celebration of Life and reception will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Peru VFW Post 309. Burial at a later date in New Burt Cemetery will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Barbara Alice Baughn may be made to your local Fire Department and/or Hospice of the North Country.
Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
