Obituary of Gerald Leroy Vassar

Gerald Leroy "Jerry" Vassar, 71, of Basket Avenue, Keeseville, died Thursday, July 1, 2021, at the Essex Center in Elizabethtown. He was born in Plattsburgh, March 29, 1950, the son of James R., Sr. and Ardell M. (Gumlaw) Vassar. He grew up in Keeseville and graduated from AuSable Valley Central School in 1971. Jerry worked for various companies throughout the North Country including Ward Lumber, Paleface Mountain, Whiteface Mountain, King Orchard, and AuSable Chasm. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and bowling. Left to cherish the memory of Jerry are, his siblings, Pauline "Blondie" and her husband, Fred Colegrove, Jr. of Keeseville, Clifford "Kipper" Vassar of Keeseville, and George Vassar and his wife, Patricia of Phoenix, Az; sister-in-law, Dawn Vassar; and many, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, James E. Vassar, Jr. and his companion, Dorothy Thompson, and Richard A. "Beatle" Vassar; sister-in-law, Carol Vassar; and niece, Carie Ann Vassar. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from Noon to 2 at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 124 Clinton Street, Keeseville. A graveside service will follow at 2:15 PM in St. John's Cemetery in Keeseville with Rev. William G. Reamer, officiating.
