Obituary of Craig Marcel DeCoste
Craig Marcel DeCoste passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, with his three sisters by his side on May 23, 2021 at UVM/CVPH in Plattsburgh. He was born in Malone, June 29, 1954, the son of Marcel and Alice (Boyea) DeCoste. He was born prematurely due to a car accident and suffered injuries that were lifelong hurdles for him. Craig was Craig and if you knew him, you'd know exactly what we mean. He could be funny and mischievous, and he was kind-hearted, always wanting to lend a helping hand to whoever he could. He was a collector of baseball cards, Coca-Cola memorabilia and he loved anything with a flag, an eagle or anything Native American. Craig loved all kinds of music, and he loved to listen to live music where he could play pool and dance. He loved to visit and joke around with family and friends especially while playing cards, a common pastime. Craig also loved to go to bingo with Mom but would get really mad when he would 'go home a loser', Ha! When he was a younger man, many times you'd see him riding his mo-ped with a six pack of Mountain Dew in the back going somewhere to play cards or to help a friend with a task. The 'Mountain Dew Kid' was his nickname regardless of his age. He loved splitting wood and when this topic came up you could count on him flexing his arm muscles to impress us! We will miss you Craig. Left to cherish his memory are, his sisters, Robin (DeCoste) Gadway of Rouses Point, Wendy (DeCoste) Davison (Jim) of Mooers Forks and Tracy DeCoste of Chazy; nieces and nephews, Candice Garrand, Matthew Garrand and Stacey Danussi, Justin Gadway and Shannon Casey, Jon Gadway and Jessica (Nicholas) Trumbull, Travis (Wendy) Davison and Tyler Davison and Heather Hawksby; along with great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Craig was predeceased by his parents, Marcel Victor and Alice Theresa (Boyea) DeCoste; and sisters, Deborah Ann (DeCoste) Garrand and Betty Barcomb. A reception will held at his home at 7 Duprey Road, Mooers Forks, on Saturday, June 5th from 2 to 5 pm and his family and friends are invited to join us to remember Craig. His cremains will be placed in his parent's crypt at the mausoleum in Ellenburg Depot at a later date, at the family's discretion. In lieu of flowers, donations in Craig's memory can be made to: Meals on Wheels and/or the Mooers Fire Department/EMS. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers, 236-4747.
