Obituary of Sharon Ann LaValley

Sharon Anne LaValley of Mooers, NY passed away Tuesday, April 6th, 2021. She was only 50 years old. Sharon was born on July 22nd, 1970 to Roger and Evelyn (LaFave) Garrand of Mooers Forks, NY. Sharon was the youngest of six children. She attended Northeastern Clinton Central School and graduated in 1988. Sharon met the love of her life, Randy LaValley, in 1984 when they briefly dated. Sharon and Randy reunited again in 1991 and were married on October 3rd, 1992. Sharon was employed by Steinbeck’s and then as a head seamstress for Commonwealth Home Fashions in Champlain, NY. She started working at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in 2000. During her time there, she accomplished the dream she had always longed for, becoming a mother. Her son, Nolan, was born in 2003. After her time at Wyeth, Sharon was a teller at Community Bank while attending a medical office assistant program at CV-Tec. Additionally, she was employed at Mooers Elementary as a cafeteria assistant, library assistant, and later as a bus monitor. When she was just 45 years old, she was diagnosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy that took her out of the workforce. Sharon spent her remaining years doing the job she loved and treasured the most, being a mom and taking care of her family. Sharon cherished the time she spent outside with her beloved son Nolan- especially hiking the local trails and riding around on their side-by-side ATV. She loved going on vacation and was always reading during her down time. She made an incredible spaghetti sauce, and an even better chili. Sharon was predeceased by her mother, Evelyn, in 2002; her sister and best friend, Sandy Monette, in 2003; her brother-in-law, Fred Pelletier, in 2009; her father, Roger, in 2015; and one of her older brothers, Ronald “Ronnie” Garrand, in 2017. Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Randy LaValley; their son, Nolan LaValley; a niece whom she treated like a daughter, Karissa Monette (David Senecal Jr,) and their children Scarlett and Oliver; her siblings: Carol Pelletier, Roger (Debbie) Garrand Jr., Dennis (Tammy) Garrand, Bobby Dubuque and Noel Garrand; her mother and father-in-law, Noel and Elaine LaValley; sister-in-law, Kristina (Chad) Seguin and their children Kirsten and Kaden; and brother-in-law, Shawn (Melissa) LaValley. Sharon leaves behind her most cherished friend Vicki Rabideau, among many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends and relatives. Calling hours will be held Sunday, April 11, 2021 from 2 to 4 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, April 12, 2021 at 10:30 AM in St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks. Committal prayers and burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Mooers.
