Obituary of Charles Lyman Poquette
Charles Lyman Poquette, 80, of AuSable Beach Road, Peru and Hemlock Lane, Lewis, died Sunday, March 7, 2021 at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh, following a brief illness. He was born in Plattsburgh, October 19, 1940, the son of Herman and Stella (Dignard) Poquette. He grew up in Plattsburgh, graduated from Mount Assumption Institute (MAI), and later from Canton ATC where he studied drafting. After graduation he worked at the Witherill Hotel in Plattsburgh and assisted at the O'Neill-Redden Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. He then served in the United States Army from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1965. Following the service he began his career at Georgia Pacific in Plattsburgh and worked for 35 years prior to retiring in 2001. Charlie enjoyed boating and spending his summers at the beach. He was a "shade tree" mechanic in the days of simpler cars. He was a "jack of all trades", especially construction and plumbing. Left to cherish the memory of Charlie are, daughter, Hope Blood of Glendale, AZ; and son, Michael Poquette and his wife, Nikki Duquette of Plattsburgh. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one son, Jeffrey R. Poquette, April 1, 2000. At Charlie's request there will be no public services. Burial will be held at a later date.
