Robert Kenneth "Bob" Armstrong, 81, of the Perry Mills Road, Champlain, died Sunday, February 21, 2021 at his home, under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Plattsburgh, May 8, 1939, the son of Thurman and Laura (Dubuque) Armstrong. Bob was raised in Champlain, working on the family dairy farm. He additionally managed the VFW Post 1418 in Champlain for 10 years. Whether a hobby or a business, Bob was never afraid to tackle a new challenge and try something new. Early on he tried hunting, and additionally enjoyed weekly bowling and dancing. He especially enjoyed the times he spent playing pool and playing his wooden spoons. He did take time for leisure activities and enjoyed visiting casinos. Vegas was his favorite! He learned to work with his hands and built his own home, re-built the family farm after a fire, and later helped his son build his home. Bob's greatest passion was working outdoors. For the previous three decades he has meticulously cleared a small forest and surrounded himself with the beauty of his work from landscaping that included stone walls, bridges, flora, and fauna. A team of ducks wandering around the "Island" as it became known, only added to the charm. He enjoyed sharing his beautiful property by hosting annual parties for people with disabilities and their families. He will be missed by family and friends, and remembered for his hard work and generosity.
