Obituary of Annette Eleanor Devan

Annette E. Devan, 89, formerly of Mooers, passed away on January 9, 2021 at Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Plattsburgh, NY. Annette was born, along with her identical twin sister, Ann, December 30th, 1931 in Redford, NY to Joseph and Mary Lawton. She graduated from Salaz Academy at the age of 16 and went on to attend OLVA Secretarial School. In 1954 she went to work for WIRY Radio, where she remained for over 40 years, eventually retiring as General Manager. In 1951 she married Earl "Jughead" Devan of Cadyville, NY. They had four children together. Annette had a great love for travel, visiting several countries over the years as well as many places in the US. She loved playing cards, especially Pinochle, and her sister Ann was one of her favorite partners. Several years after the death of Earl, she found love again when she met James "Jim" Cayea of Mooers, NY. In Jim she found her soulmate. The two were inseparable and completely devoted to each other. They married in Las Vegas in Nov. of 2009. She is survived by son, Jay & wife Fay Devan; daughters, Lynn & husband Michael Myers, and Kerry & husband Richard Gladd; step-children, Paul, Mathew, and Sarah Cayea, as well as Sarah's husband, Yves St-Germain; grandchildren, David, Melissa and Michelle Devan, Carynn Dawley, Erin Myers and Jonathan Dawley, Dylan and Brady Gladd, Derrick Barber and Angela Cayea; great-grandchildren, Conner, Jared, Katherine and Mathew Devan, Jack Bohin, Liana and Ryan LaVoie, and Cian Dawley; and several nieces and nephews. Annette was predeceased by her parents; husband, Earl in 1986; daughter, Laurie in 2004; sisters, Mabel Darrah, Myrtle Bunker, and Ann Liberty; brother, James Lawton; and her husband, James Cayea, just 13 days prior her own passing. Due to COVID-19, a funeral Mass will be held later in 2021 when loved ones can safely gather to celebrate her life.
