Obituary of Darlene Gail LaValley

Darlene Gail LaValley, 67, of Plattsburgh, died Friday, January 8, 2021 at the home of her daughter, under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country. She was born in Plattsburgh, September 23, 1953. Darlene battled stage four colon cancer for the previous 9 years. She will be remembered for her passion and love of giving and caring for others. Along with her many years of service with the VFW Post 309 in Peru. She spent all her free time arranging benefits for the sick, in need, and many other organizations. One of Darlene's greatest passions was her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and the "Golden Girls." Some of her greatest memories were her adventures with the Golden Girls and her special beach vacation with her three daughters. Darlene also had a love for bingo and slots and creating memories with her family. She will be greatly missed and loved to the moon and back. Left to cherish the memory of Darlene are, daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Clay Lafountain and grandchildren, Hilarie Ladieu, Hunter Lafountain and Aleyah Lafountain; daughter, Rebecca Hewson and grandchildren, Connor Livsey (Cortlynn Trumble) and Logan McMillan; daughter, Dorothy Durgan and grandchildren, Dominic Durgan and Jayce Durgan; great-grandchildren, Alyannah Cole and Bentlee Ladieu; the "Golden Girls", Sherry McKee, Donna McKee, and Vanessa Brown; son-in-law, Raymond Hewson; Paul Uhr and wife Amy, Mellisa Zwarts and husband Michael; and several nieces, nephews and other family members. She was predeceased by her mother, Elizabeth Martineau; sister, Carla Barnes; and granddaughter, Alexys Rose Lafountain. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 5 to 6 pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will follow at 6 pm in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William G. Reamer, officiating. Face coverings and social distancing will be required. Burial will be in the spring in the Peasleeville Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow the burial service. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
