Obituary of Leo A. Ezero

Leo A. Ezero, 63, of the Union Road, Peru, died Sunday, November 1, 2020 at his home, under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Plattsburgh, February 27, 1957, the son of Emery A. and Eleanor H. (Plumadore) Ezero. He grew up in Peru and graduated from Peru Central School in 1975. Leo married the love of his life, Dawn (Cook) Short, earlier this year. Though recently married, they were together for more than 35 years. He worked at SUNY Plattsburgh as a maintenance assistant for 25 years, prior to retiring in 2019. Leo loved his grandchildren and family very much. He will be missed by who were fortunate to be part of his life, especially his immediate family. Left to cherish the memory of Leo are, his wife, Dawn Short; daughter, Kristin (Paul) Short; son, Justin (Bobbie) Short; cherished grandchildren, Emma, Paul, Brianna, Connor, and Ava; four brothers, Carl (Carlene), Edward (Ron), Joseph (Phyllis), and William (Monique); mother-in-law, Helen Cook; sisters-in-law, Pamela Akey and Mary Kay Ezero; brother-in-law and close friend, Roland Akey; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his father-in-law, Clyde Cook. At Leo's request, visitation and funeral service will be private for the very immediate family. His final resting place will be in St. Augustine's Cemetery in Peru, where his parents are. Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country.
