Obituary of Ruth Ann Patnode
Ruth Ann Patnode, 68, fifth child of Cecil and Celia (Cross) Patnode, a lifelong resident of Keeseville, N.Y., and lifelong devoted member of the Keeseville United Methodist Church, cradled in the arms of her Saviour Jesus Christ went to eternal rest on Oct. 8, 2020. Ruth grew up in the midst of a large family busy with raising strawberries and everyone at one time or another was planting, picking, selling, or managing the fields. She was a 4-H member and won blue ribbons at the fair for her sewing projects. In 1971 she graduated from Keeseville High School. From that time until her retirement she was a store clerk at Arnold's Grocery in Keeseville. She enjoyed family gatherings especially playing cards or board games. She loved doing puzzles and was an expert at Sudoku. Ruth had a gleeful, hearty laugh as she found humor in the nonsensical. Ruth participated actively in the worship and program life of her church. She worked diligently in the Thrift Shop. For years she spent endless hours preparing the Household Goods portion of the annual Summer Festival fundraiser. She could often be found at church just doing what needed to get done. During the last few weeks of Ruth's life she was lovingly cared for by her daughter, the pride of Ruth's life. The time spent together though difficult was a special blessing for her. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Heather Patnode and her partner Alberto Muir and her seven siblings: Cecil Patnode Jr. (Diana), Alice Winternitz (Irv), Dr. Roger Patnode (Marilyn Clute), Thomas Patnode (Janet), Philip Patnode (Joan Jarvis), Agnes Patnode, and Nancy Roberts (Alan). She is also survived by a loving family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, and several aunts and uncles, a cousin and a sister-in-law who are welcoming her to Paradise. Ruth was a loving daughter, a loving sibling, and most especially a loving mother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a "good and faithful servant" and will enjoy the bounty of God's grace. A memorial service and celebration of Ruth's life is planned for the summer. Donations in her memory may be made to the Keeseville United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 124 Clinton Street, Keeseville, 834-7667.
