Obituary of Irvin M. Rascoe

Irvin M. Rascoe, 82, of the True Brook Road, Saranac, died on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at the UVM Health Network – CVPH Plattsburgh, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Saranac on April 29, 1938, the son of Guy and Anna (Reyell) Rascoe. Irvin worked 30 years for the New York State DOT before retiring as a Highway Maintenance Supervisor on March 28, 1991. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a 3rd Degree Knight. He was also a member of the Saranac Volunteer Fire Dept. for many years before becoming an honorary member. Irvin enjoyed sitting in his porch drinking coffee and visiting with friends and relatives, waving to everyone that passed by. He was known as the "Mayor" of True Brook Road. Left to cherish his memory are his children, sons, Michael Rascoe and companion Samantha Cross, and Ricky (Cheryl) Rascoe and daughters, Cindy (Bernard) LaVarnway, and Judy Rascoe and companion Steve Kende; 11 grandchildren, Kyle and Tanner Rascoe, Rick (Dawn) LaVarnway, Kevin, Robbie and Mykel LaVarnway, Mandy (James) Lockyer, Ashley, Lindsey and Chelsey Rascoe and Steve Siskavich; 14 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; brother, Clarence Rascoe of Plattsburgh; sisters-in-law, Genevieve Heywood of Massachusetts and Margaret Rascoe of Saranac; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Theresa "Tessie" Rascoe (8/21/2005); and 3 siblings. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, August 3, 2020 from 3 to 6 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 11 AM at the Church of The Assumption, 64 Church Street, Redford with Rev. Scott Seymour, celebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Face Masks and Social Distancing will be mandatory during all services. Donations in memory of Irvin M. Rascoe may be made to the Saranac Volunteer Fire Dept., or the charity of one's choice. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
