Caroline Sears

Obituary of Caroline E. Sears

Caroline E. Sears, 75, of Peasleeville Road, Peru, passed away on Saturday, July 04, 2020 at the UVM Health Network, CVPH, Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh on March 5, 1945, the daughter of Richard H. and Grace M. (Burt) Lucia. Caroline was a kindergarten teacher's aide and cheerleading coach at St. Augustine's for many years. When her last child graduated she left to go to work for Don G. Orchards packing apples and monitoring quality control during harvest. Caroline then began a new career in Real Estate working for Century 21 and then Donald Duley and Associates until she retired to care for her mother. Caroline was well known and respected in the surrounding area and loved to visit with everyone. She always made time for friends and family, which she loved dearly, and her favorite pastime was playing in her flower gardens. The most important thing in Caroline's life was her family. Every Sunday she would cook a big meal for her children so they could stop by for a home cooked meal and listen to mom ask them, (her favorite saying) "so what's new in your world this week?" Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 56 years, Thomas H. Sears; two daughters and one son, Tammy (Barry) Catlin, David (Sonya) Sears, and Carlene Heipel (Carl Ezero); four granddaughters and one grandson, Amanda Sears, Tia Brunk, Megan and Erin Sears, and Brendon (Ashley) Heipel; two great grandsons and one great granddaughter, Leland Sears, and Mason and Mackenzie Heipel; sister, Joyce (Rich) Lucia-Kolb; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Caroline was predeceased by her brother, Carlton Lucia of PA; and several aunts and uncles. Honoring her request, all services will be private and at the convenience of her family. Burial will be in the Peasleeville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Caroline E. Sears may be made to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center or a charity of one's choice. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
