Robert Clark, Sr.

Obituary of Robert F. Clark, Sr.

Robert "Bob" Fillmore Clark, Sr. of Schuyler Falls, NY, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital. He was 77 years old. Bob was born on November 4, 1942 in Schenectady, NY, to father Stanley Clark and mother Henrietta (Volker) Clark. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to Peru, NY. The youngest of three sons, Bob helped out on his family farm starting at a young age, which instilled in him a strong work ethic. Throughout his youth, he was active in the local 4-H Club, and later became a leader in the club. He attended Peru Central through high school, and graduated in 1962. He married his first wife, Georgia Fleury, shortly after finishing high school. The couple had their first son, Robert Jr., in June of 1964. Their second son James was born 11 months later. The young family moved to Frederick, Maryland in 1966. While in Maryland, Bob worked for Fawcett Printing and several car dealerships as a diesel mechanic. His family moved back to Peru in 1971, where he continued a long career in the diesel industry. During this time, he was also an active member of the Peru Lions Club, and had a passion for serving others in his community. Although Bob and Georgia's marriage did not last, his love for his family never wavered. In 1980, Bob met Dana Uliva, whom he considered his soul mate. The two became inseparable, and spent over 40 years together. The couple had two children, Tracy Lynn and Albert Charles. One of Bob's most cherished memories was his wedding to Dana on August 6, 2016. Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be remembered as a fun-loving man, always laughing and cracking jokes, even in the last hours of his life. One of his greatest joys was working as a mechanic alongside his sons and grandson, and teaching them his trade. He also taught his children the value of a dollar, and to always get the best bargain. He enjoyed talking on the phone with his children, telling stories to a captive audience, going to car shows, and taking road trips to Virginia. He spent hours every day on his porch with his wife watching the "chippies" and birds in the yard, and would later regale his family with stories of these woodland creatures. He appreciated the simple things in life, and never took a day for granted. He will be greatly missed, but his family's precious memories of him will live on forever. Bob was predeceased by his parents, and his brothers Stanley Clark and Richard Clark. He is survived by his wife Dana Clark; children Robert Clark, Jr. and his wife Holly Clark, James Clark, Tracy Ward, and Albert Clark and his wife Amanda Lutzy; grandchildren Brandi (Clark) DeLeo and her husband Jeremy, Kris Clark and his wife Kristina, Chelsea Clark, Dylan Ward, Morgan Clark, Steven Clark, and Kevin Clark; great-grandchildren Kailee Deleo, Paisley Clark, and Charlie Speer. A memorial service will be held for friends and family at a later date this summer. Those wishing to honor Bob's memory can make donations to the Peru Lions Club, PO Box 165, Peru, NY 12972. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
