Obituary of Hector D. Martineau

Hector D. Martineau, 85, of Mason Street, Morrisonville, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Peru on January 21, 1935, the son of Louis and Betsy (Martino) Martineau. Hector graduated from Peru Central School. He retired from Velan Valve Corp. in Williston, VT after 30 years. Hector enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, wood working and gardening. He was a jack of all trades. He also enjoyed cooking for those he loved. Survivors include his wife of 60.5 years, Rosella "Rosie" (Ashline) Martineau; sons, Michael and Jeanine Martineau of McKinney, TX, and Larry Martineau of Port Charlotte, FL; granddaughters, Megan Martineau and husband, Ethan Clokey, and Marikate Martineau all of Raleigh, NC; their mother, Mary Lundeen of Jericho, VT; in-laws, Elizabeth Heininger, Eileen (Anthony) Minio, Bernice Henderson, Myrna (Steven) Bunner, Frances (Timothy) Neil, Anita (Eldon) Mockry, Vivian Ashline, Kay Martineau, William and Karen Ashline, and Keith Ashline; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Clifford (Elizabeth) Martineau, Raymond (Mildred) Martineau, Bernard (Edna) Martineau, Maynard (Carrie) Martineau, and Louis Martineau; sisters, Edna (Arthur) Martineau, Ethel (Frank) Martineau, Marie (Leonard) Grenier, Irene (Merritt) Williams, and Evelyn Martineau; brothers-in-law, Raymond Heininger, Herbert Ashline, and Philip Ashline; and sister-in-law, Joan (John) Mestrov. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 4 to 6 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 11 AM at St. Alexander's Church, Morrisonville with the Rev. Scott C. Seymour celebrating. Burial in the parish cemetery will be in the spring. Donations in memory of Hector D. Martineau may be made to the Schuyler Falls Cemetery Association or Hospice of the North Country.
