Obituary of Karlene L. Clark

Karlene L. Clark, 84, of Main Street, Peru, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2020, at the UVM – Health Network, CVPH Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Newton, MA, on March 15, 1935, the daughter of Karl and Elizabeth (Ferris) Lapointe. Karlene was an alumna of Emma Willard School in Troy, NY, and of the Katherine Gibbs School in Boston. She also studied at the Connecticut College of Women. It was at the Legislature in Albany that she met and eventually married her husband of 60 years, Datus J. Clark. Eventually, they would settle in Peru, raising their two children. Karlene led a long time life of public service in the Town of Peru, serving as town clerk and tax collector for many years. Left to cherish her memory is her son, John Clark; daughter, Marguerite Congelosi; and five grandchildren, Christopher, and Kelly Congelosi, and Cyrus, Jack and McHale Clark. In addition to her parents and her husband; she was predeceased by her grandson, Joseph Congelosi. There will be no public calling hours. All other services will be private and at the convenience of her family. Burial will be in God's Acre Cemetery in Peru. Donations in memory of Karlene L.
