Obituary of Floyd R. Desotell
Floyd R. Desotell, 78, of River Street, Keeseville, passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the UVM Health Network, CVPH, in Plattsburgh, following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Plattsburgh, July 14, 1941, the son of William J. and Merilda (Mitchell) Desotell.
Floyd owned and operated Desotell's Auto Repair and Towing business in Keeseville with his wife, Kathleen and son, Stephen, and cherished and loved friend, Dean Martineau. The family business served the community he loved for over 40 years. Floyd and Stephen took great pride in serving their customers over the years. If someone broke down on the highway, you could be sure Floyd and Stephen would come and get you anytime, day or night. He so loved the work he did and truly enjoyed working with vehicles.
Left to cherish his memory are, his loving wife of 57 years, Kathleen (Hanley) Desotell; daughter and son-in-law, Erinn and Joel Passino of Keeseville; daughter-in-law, Sondra Desotell of Keeseville; beloved grandchildren, Haley, Stephen, Karly and Cooper; sisters, Mary Ellen Daniels of Plattsburgh, Gloria and Don Durivage of West Chazy, and Susan and Howard Woodman of New Hampshire.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved son, Stephen in 2018; and siblings, Raymond Desautels, Robert Desautels, Arlene Bennefield, and Merilda Duncan.
At the request of Floyd and his family, there will be no public calling hours. A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 11 AM in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. Floyd's place of eternal rest will be the Evergreen Cemetery in Keeseville.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Northeastern Alzheimer's Society.
