Obituary of Debra J. Duval
Debra J. Duval, 66, of the Union Road, Peru, died Thursday, November 28, 2019 at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country.
She was born in Plattsburgh, June 7, 1953, the daughter of Leeward, Sr. and Genevieve (Matott) Hemingway. Debra grew up in Chazy and attended Beekmantown High School.
She married Samuel F. Duval, October 17, 1970 at St. Mary's of the Lake, Cumberland Head.
Debra was known far and wide for her longtime devotion to Northern Orchards in Peru. Her attention to detail and passion for her work was admired by her many customers who quickly became her friends.
When she was not at Northern Orchards, Debra enjoyed spending time with her grandbabies, boating on Lake Champlain, gardening, and camping in Lake George.
Left to cherish the memory of Debra are, her loving husband of 49 years, Samuel Duval of Peru; her children, Samuel Duval and companion Michelle "Shelly" Cook of Peru Amanda (Duval) Crowningshield and husband Bruce Crowningshield of Peru, and Michael Desotell of Peru; grandchildren, Kyle Duval, Cyera Desotell, Rachel Desotell, Kennady Duval, and Emmalin Duval; great-granddaughter, Kazlin Duval; five sisters, Carolyn (George) Bouchard, Linda Croft and companion Joseph Coupal, Kathy Lapier and companion David, Robin Collins, and Wanita Duprey; four brothers, Gerald Hemingway, Richard (Shirley) Hemingway, David (Barbara) Hemingway, and Chester (Danielle) Hemingway; two sisters-in-law, Janet Hemingway and Cindy Hemingway; special cousins, Tommy (Terri) Hemingway; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Jimmy, Orville, and Leeward Hemingway; and three sisters, Theresa Seater, Hazel Hemingway, Barbara Hoover.
At Debra's request there will be no public calling hours or services.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center in Plattsburgh.
