Obituary of Janice A. Havelka
Janice A. Havelka, 77, formerly of the Telegraph Road, Peru, died Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the UVM Health Network, CVPH, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Peru, April 10, 1942, the daughter of Warren and Viola (Bell) Thomas. She grew up in Peru and attended Peru School. She married Gyorgy Havelka, June 20, 1959 in Peru. He predeceased her, January 3, 1996.
Janice worked for Northern Orchards for many years prior to becoming a loving stay at home mom. She was a Cub Scout leader for several years, and enjoyed playing slot machines, reading, and spending time with her family.
Left to cherish the memory of Janice are, her two daughters and sons-in-law, Anne and Bob Provost of Clearwater, Florida, and Kathryn and Donald Bruce of Peru; three grandchildren, Deidre, Sabrina, and Josh; nine great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Shirley Thomas of Peru; one sister-in-law, Merilda; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her step-father, James Thompson, December 29, 1997; her son, Steve Havelka, June 3, 2017, and brother, Donald Thomas.
There will be no public calling hours or services. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in the Peru Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Hospice of the North Country.
