Obituary of Shirley B. Snow

Mr. Shirley B. "Bucky" Snow, 91, of Route 9N, AuSable Forks, NY passed away peacefully Sunday, August 4, 2019 at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country.

He was born in Black Brook, NY on November 4, 1927 the son of Benjamin and Rhoda (Gauthier) Snow.

Bucky graduated from AuSable Forks High School in 1945. He served in the US Army from 1946 to 1947. He was a member of the US Bobsled Association and was selected for the four-man team for the 1964 Olympic games in Innsbruck, Austria. He worked at Norco Concrete and Plattsburgh Quarries driving/operating a cement mixer. You couldn't go many places without him saying "I poured that sidewalk" or "I poured the basement for…" He was best known for his quick wit and smile. He enjoyed hunting with his brother, son, grandson and many friends, fishing, woodworking, attending his grandchildren's events, but most of all, spending summers at his camp on Fern Lake.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 54 years, Margaret "Peggy" (Quirk) Snow, daughter, Shari (David) McDonald, son, Matthew Snow, and his brother, Homer Snow. He also leaves behind his pride and joy, his four grandchildren, Michael McDonald (Renee Marcotte), Emily McDonald (Nathan Hanley), Eli Snow and Olivia Snow. He leaves behind several cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road Peru. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel with Military Honors accorded.

Donations in memory of Bucky may be made to Hospice of the North Country, Fitzpatrick Cancer Center, or the ALS Foundation. The family would like to thank the staff at the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center and Hospice of the North Country for the outstanding care given to Bucky. A special thank you to Michelle Massaro for her care and help.
