Obituary of Virginia Dora Garcia

Virginia Dora "Ginny" Garcia, 97, of Pine Street, Keeseville, died Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country.

Ginny was born in Keeseville, March 6, 1922, the daughter of Alfred and Julienne (Chausse) Lareau. She was a member of the Keeseville Central School Class of 1939, the first class in the new building.

She married Emilio J. "Jack" Garcia, October 28, 1940 in St. John's Church. He predeceased her August 29, 2000.

Ginny was a member of the Keeseville Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary for 31 years, the Catholic Community of Keeseville Prayer Group and a former member of the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed playing cards.

Ginny will be fondly remembered as a devout catholic and wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a friend and caregiver to many over the years. She was loved and cared for by her family throughout her lengthy illness.

Left to cherish the memory of Ginny are, her children, three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Alan Gordon of Port Douglas, Marjorie and Michal Zmijewski of Keeseville, and Sandra Jean and Richard Clodgo of Keeseville; one son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Margorie Garcia of Keeseville; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Ann (Gordon) Trombley; and siblings; Ginny was the last of 10 Lareau children.

Calling hours will be held Monday, August 5, 2019 from 10:30 to 12:30 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 124 Clinton Street, Keeseville. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 PM at St. John's Church in Keeseville with Rev. Kris C. Lauzon, parish priest, celebrating. Entombment will follow in the Whispering Maples Memorial Garden, Tom Miller Road, Plattsburgh.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Catholic Community of Keeseville, or Hospice of the North Country.
