Obituary of Donald A. Alterie
Donald A. Alterie, 73, of Dock and Coal Lane, Willsboro, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019 at his residence, with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on July 10, 1945. He graduated from Harding High School in 1963.
Don was a mechanic who owned and operated an auto repair and towing company in Connecticut. He later owned and operated Lakeside Deli in Essex, NY for many years.
He enjoyed drag racing, working on cars and riding his Harley. Most of all, he loved to cook for family and friends. He found great joy being surrounded by his family and was known by many as Uncle Don. He had an infectious smile and a heart of gold.
Left to cherish the memory of Don are, his wife of 37 years, Debbie Alterie, whom he married June 5, 1982 in Lebanon, IL; his children Jennifer (Pete) Carson of Willsboro, Don Jr. of Pennsylvania, Rhonda Sloper (Scott Hommes) of Willsboro, Melanie (Josh) Palmer of Willsboro, Yvonne Alterie (Sarah Noll) of Keeseville, Kenny (Stacey) Alterie of Peru, Tracey (Mike) Adams of Jacksonville, N.C., Anthony Alterie of Willsboro, and Allen Alterie (Marilyn Strong) of Reber; grandchildren, Lee and Kelsey Sloper, Skiler, Spencer III, Sterlin, Sadie and Sayge Stafford, Landon, Sam and Annie Adams, Wyatt Palmer, Avery and Declan Alterie, and Alex and Mia.
He also leaves behind many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, as well as his best friends, Ron and Elaine Doshna.
Don was predeceased by his mother, Francis Love; his grandson, Bryce Palmer and his son-in-law, Spencer Stafford, Jr.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2019 from 4 to 7 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru.
