Obituary of Charles E. Hemingway

Charles E. (Chicago) Hemingway, 63, of State Route 11, Mooers Forks, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2019 at the UVM Medical Center, Burlington, VT surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Portsmouth, Maine on September 29, 1955, the son of David and Marie (LaClair) Hemingway.

On May 24, 1975 he married the love of his life, Diane B. Green. They proceeded to create a family with the births of their three children.

In 1977, he became a member of Laborers Local #186 and continued until a work injury sidelined him in 2001. Charles passed his love of fishing and hunting to his family and friends even after his injury, right up to the fall of 2018.

His "Littles" also loved to go buggy riding with their papa and he loved to hear their laughs and see their delight in the smallest of things.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of forty four years, Diane; children, Charles Jr. and companion, Alicia Kimball, Nicole and fiancé, Roy Perry, and Matthew and Kim Hemingway; grandchildren, Lacey, Hailey, Willow, Mason, Koby and Shyanne; his second mom, Madeline Hemingway; siblings, David and Tanya Hemingway, Edna Francis, June and Joseph Aubrey, Clarence Hemingway and companion Joanie Burliss, Gary Trombley and companion Diana Thomas, and Michael and Jessica Trombley; in-laws, Ernest and Betty Jean Sample; Lawrence and Mary Lou Gadway, Patricia Green, Gail Green, Barbara Green, Gregory and Jodie Green, and Tammie and Steven Luce; aunts and uncles, Bertha Armstrong, Anthony and Jamie Hemingway, and Harry and Linda Hemingway; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by an infant brother; father and mother-in-law, Merriel and Beverly Green; brothers-in-law, Merriel "Joe" Green, Jr., Michael Green, and David Francis; and Papa Paul Pelkey.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, June 1, 2019, from 2 to 4 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 PM in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Tyron Rabideau officiating. Burial in St. Ann's Cemetery will be private.
