Kristina lived in Essex, NY and attended Willsboro School before moving to Connecticut. She returned to her beloved Adirondacks in 2013, and to her second family, the McDougals, of Elizabethtown. Travis, Cliff, Gordon and Debbie were a wonderful part of Kristina's life from the time she was 16.

Kristina was a seasoned cook, taking after her Grandpa Remancus, and delighted in creating wonderful meals for those she loved. She was passionate about the camping and fishing trips she and Travis would take every summer. Kristina was also a very strong advocate for, and loved all animals.

She is survived by her loving companion and caretaker, Travis McDougal of Saranac Lake; parents, Richard and Margaret (Remancus) Smith of Willsboro; father, Howard Tart of CT; brothers, Jon (Julie) Steeves of OR, Eric (Sophia) Steeves of CT, Mark (Michelle) Steeves of CT, Jonathan Parsdis of CT, Joseph Smart of NY, and sister, Maria (Chris) DiBattista of NY; Aunt Christine (Remancus) Hitoshi Okano of MA; She also leaves 5 nieces, 4 nephews and 9 great nieces and nephews, and her beloved fur-baby, Jazzie.

She was preceded in death by her only child Charles Edward Tart; maternal grandparents, John and Lucille Remancus; her "Mama of the heart", Norma McDougal; and brother in law, Gordon McDougal.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Saranac Lake Volunteer Rescue Squad, PO Box 431, Saranac Lake, NY 12983, in grateful appreciation, kindness and many responses.
