Obituary of Norman Davis Ward

Norman "Skip" Davis Ward, 79, died peacefully on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid.

Skip was born in Jay, NY on September 24, 1939 to Harry and Marguerite (Davis) Ward.

He married Marilyn Maynard LaDuke on May 7, 1977 at the Whiteface Methodist Church in Wilmington, NY. In his younger years, he enjoyed traveling with his wife Marilyn, across the United States and Canada. Skip worked as a truck driver at Ward Lumber Co. before going to Whiteface Mountain where he retired after several years of service. Skip was an active member of The JayCee's, The Kiwanas Club, The Masons, AuSable River Lodge #149, and a beloved member of the Whiteface Community United Methodist Church in Wilmington, NY.

Skip is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marilyn; step-children, Leslie (Gib) Hansen of Lake Placid, NY, and Daryl (Sheree) LaDuke of Goose Creek, SC; four grandchildren, Logan, Jennifer, Kresta, and Keara; two step-grandchildren, Jessica and Kelly as well as several great-grandchildren; two siblings, George (Diane) Ward, and Louise (Gene) Nolan; one sister-in-law, Virginia Ward; one brother-in-law, Steven Schlamowitz; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Harry Ward.

There will be no public calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date and at the convenience of the family.

Skip will be laid to rest in the Jay Central Cemetery.

Donations in Skip's memory may be made to The University of Vermont Cancer Center or The AuSable Forks Ambulance Service.
