Obituary of George J. Nolan
George J. Nolan, 76, passed away at his home in Peru, NY, on March 10, 2019.
He was born in AuSable Forks on January 29, 1943, the son of the late John and Esther (Nelson) Nolan.
George served as supervisor for AFE Industries in Crown Point, NY, during his working years.
He loved Christmas and expressed his holiday spirit through countless lights and decorations. The interior decorations matched the exterior. Decorating began late October with its revealing on Thanksgiving eve.
George, an avid outdoorsman, was a talented carpenter and woodworker. He could make and fix anything with his hands. When at home, he loved to tell stories from his youth including times spent with his siblings and singing songs. He often expressed his love and pride for his boys. His love for them and his family was evident.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife and best friend Karolina Page Nolan; his children, Brian (Art) and Patrick; his step-children Christina Dubuque and Kristofer (Charlene) Dubuque; his grandchildren, Hunter, Zachary, and Haile; his step-grandchildren, Isabella, Thomas, Ariana, Isaias, and Ephraim; four sisters, Margaret Bombard, Esther Dorr, Ann Rule (Allen) and Bonnie Hopkins (Howard); one brother, Gene (Louise) Nolan; numerous nieces and nephews; and one fur baby, Zoey.
George was predeceased by his youngest son, Jeffrey Nolan, his sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Jim Bushey, brother and sister-in-law John and Doris Nolan, and brothers-in-law, Thomas Bombard and Russell Dorr.
George and Karolina would like to extend a special thank you to his PA, Julie Anderson and nurse, Lori Cowen, and Hospice of the North Country as well as his niece, Laura Campbell, his nephews Bradley Bushey, Dennis Bushey, Bruce Bennett, and George and Karolina's family for their love and support during this difficult time.
There will be no public calling hours. Family and friends may gather to celebrate George's life at the American Legion, Post 504 in AuSable Forks, on March 16, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
