Obituary of Francis G. Martineau

Francis Gerald Martineau, 78, of Route 22, Peru, died Sunday, February 3, 2019 at the UVM Health Network, CVPH, Plattsburgh with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Peasleeville, February 25, 1940, the son of Bernard Francis and Edna (Banker) Martineau. He attended Peru Central School.

Francis served in Korea as a sharp shooter in the United States Army from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1963.

He was a hard working man who had many jobs throughout his life, too numerous to mention. He worked on the PAFB for 32 years as warehouse foreman in the commissary until he retired in 1995 when the base itself closed.

In his younger years, he loved NASCAR, and CBing. His CB handle was Big Daddy. He played a mean shuffleboard game and enjoyed collecting and restoring antiques and beautiful oak furniture.

Left to cherish the memory of Francis are, his loving wife of 50 years, Cynthia (LaFave) Martineau; sons, Francis and wife Mary, and Shawn Martineau; daughter, Cheri and husband Michael Bunn; grandchildren, Ashley, Breanna, Connor, Molly; great grandchildren, Aidynne, Elliana, and baby Zayden; a half sister, Katherine; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved half sister, Mildred; and half brother, Donald Ormsby.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. Burial will be in the Peasleeville Cemetery in the spring.

Because he was an animal lover, donations in his memory may be made to the SPCA.

Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
