Obituary of Ethel May Stone
Ethel May Stone, 91, of the Trout Pond Road, Keeseville, died after a long illness Wednesday, December 26, 2018, in Riverview, Florida, under the care of Hospice.
She was born at home in Peru, May 11, 1927, the daughter of Jeffrey and Gladys (Tyrell) Duquette. She attended and graduated from Peru High School.
Ethel worked for many years in the food service industry in the area and always enjoyed the people she served and friendships she made. Ethel became a full time homemaker and enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family, canning, crocheting, country music, making memories with her favorite sister, Pat and card games on the front porch. She loved a good laugh, a new joke or a funny story at "happy hour" with family and friends.
Ethel is survived by her 7 children: Ron (Barb) McGee, Randy (Debbie) Cassevah, Cindy (Steve) Williams, Kevin (Chrissy) Cassevah, Cheryl (Dan) Shaughnessy, Kim (Ed) Bouissey, and Shelia (Don) Anderson; 15 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sister, Corrine Veach; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ethel was predeceased by her partner, Roy Poland; daughters, Donna and Debbie; brother, Sherman; and sisters, Katherine, Shirley, and Patricia.
Calling hours will be held Friday, January 18, 2019 from Noon to 2 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 124 Clinton Street, Keeseville. A funeral service will follow at 2 PM in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel. Committal prayers and burial for both Ethel and her longtime companion, Roy Poland, will follow in the Port Douglas Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ethel's memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country.
